Mushroom Walnut Meat Burgers

Tired of eating plant-based burgers with mysterious ingredients? Look no further! Our Mushroom Walnut Meat Burger recipe features simple, wholesome ingredients and offers a delicious alternative. Say goodbye to mystery patties and hello to a mouthwatering plant-based delight.

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup shelled walnuts

  • 3 cups roughly chopped Baby Bella mushrooms

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke (I prefer hickory flavored for this recipe)

  • 1/8 cup chickpea flour

  • 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil

Steps:

1. If you are baking your patties, preheat the oven to 375 Fahrenheit bake setting.

2. Soak walnuts in water for at least 30 minutes After soaking drain water and place soaked walnuts in food processor. Pulse them until they reach a grain-like texture and place them in a large bowl.

3. Place mushrooms in food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Transfer the finely chopped mushrooms into the bowl with walnuts. Mix the walnuts and mushrooms together until combined.

3. Add the remaining ingredients into the walnut mushroom mixture and mix until thoroughly combined and form four burger patties.

4. Cook your patties!

  • Option 1: Bake it! Using a glass baking pan, generously coat it with cooking spray. Place the prepared patties in the oven and bake for 40 minutes, making sure to flip the patties at the halfway mark for even cooking.

  • Option 2: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of grapeseed oil over medium heat. Cook no more than two patties at a time, allowing them to sizzle for 5 minutes on each side until they develop a crust and are heated through.

5. Serve your patties on a soft potato bun, complemented by crisp lettuce, juicy tomato slices, flavorful onion rings or fresh onion, and a slice of vegan cheese. Personally, I love the smoky goodness of barbecue sauce on my burgers, but you can also opt for classic ketchup or elevate your experience with my mouthwatering creamy chipotle sauce—it pairs exceptionally well with this recipe. The choice is yours; make it saucy!

Overview:

The burgers offer a great alternative to store-bought plant-based patties, and the best part is, they're quick and easy to make. I opted for Arnold potato buns and delicious Violife cheddar slices. If you crave even more flavor, don't miss out on my blog post for the most flavorful and creamiest chipotle sauce.
